Sun & Moon
The Sun and Moon, the luminaries, are the most prominent and essential of bodies in our skies and in our continued survival. The Sun is at the very heart of our existence, without its vibrant incandescent power there is no life or light, no planet Earth, no solar system. As Earth’s own satellite body, our closest companion, our relationship to the Moon is therefore more immediately personal and intimately protective. She acts as a stabiliser to Earth’s orbit and the daily rotation about our axis that gives us day and night, and as a giant reflector of the Sun’s light as she moves through her own orbit around us and her changing phases.
The cycles of nature, the ebb and flow of the tides and the potentials for the differing types of solar and lunar eclipses are all as a consequence of our relationships both with the Sun and Moon.
We will explain the various, and sometimes confusing, terms and cycles of the Sun and Moon in relationship to life on planet Earth, with particular reference to how they are then represented in a chart and their key influences.
